Even though I have been really busy at work over the summer, working on our new game (The Walking Dead: Road to Survival available now for iOS and Android), I have put some time in to revamping my web site. The first thing that you will have obviously noticed is the new theme which I am very happy with. But the updates go much deeper then that. Part of the process involved going through all my old posts to update them to work with the new theme and to fix up the category system.
This new category system should now make the 4 shifting images a the top of the main page make more sense. I have broken the site up in to 4 distinct areas. These areas became very evident to me after going through my old posts. The first is TV and Movies which is one of the things I talk about most, but we get to that later. The second is Philosophy and Politics where I talk about the current failing political climate and how the philosophy of Objectives is the only solution. The third is Video Game Development in which I talk about my many side projects and my current career in the video game industry. And the final area is Personal Life that contains random stuff about my life that does not fit in to the other categories.
Now to address the newish direction part of the title. I say newish because I have said this many times before but I want to do more with the site. In the past when I said this It never really went any where because I always got distracted with other parts of my life like school and work. I hope this will be different this time by using the categories to give me a better target to work for.
The first area I am addressing with the site is TV and Movies, by approaching it as more of a project then simple some place were I randomly post about the movies I like. I have been doing this for a while with my top ten of the year lists which evolved in to the top ten of the decade lists. I am now doing this for the for the 80’s but wanted to do it in a more structured way. At the top of the site you will notice a menu for Projects that links to all of my past lists and will some day include all of my future lists. Soon I will be finished my list for 89 and will post it there and here with a small write up of my impressions of that year.
As a bonus I have another list that I have been meaning to post but have not gotten around to finishing. Usually I like to write up a sentence or two about each movie But I find it difficult to do this sometimes because It is ether really hard to summarize my views in such a small space or because some movies are not that deep and It is difficult to find anything put in the space that does not sound cliché or repetitive. So here is the list:
Top 10 Movies of 2014
PS: As another bonus I also want to include what I was going to say about the movie The Imitation Game which kind of crosses in to the area of Philosophy and Politics: The story of the man, Alan Turing, that invented the computer and is estimated at saving over 14 million live; and how the government decided to chemically castrate him because he did not comply with their religious views.
